JOB SUMMARY

The GLL Spanish Language Instructor is responsible for providing engaging, practical, and supportive Spanish language instruction to college students and community members interested in learning Spanish. The instructor will create a welcoming learning environment and provide instruction appropriate for beginning and developing Spanish learners. The instructor will emphasize practical communication skills, including conversation, vocabulary, pronunciation, reading, writing, and everyday Spanish. The position requires an individual who is enthusiastic about teaching, patient and supportive of learners, and able to adapt instruction to different learning styles and levels of experience.

Incorporate conversational practice, role-playing, demonstrations, and other interactive learning activities. Adapt instructional activities to accommodate students with different levels of Spanish proficiency and learning needs. Create and maintain a positive, respectful, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment. Encourage student participation, confidence, and continued interest in learning Spanish. Prepare instructional materials, handouts, activities, and other resources as appropriate. Utilize technology and digital resources to enhance instruction and student learning. Communicate clearly and professionally with students, colleagues, and program staff. Maintain appropriate attendance, instructional, and program records as required. Follow college policies, procedures, and expectations. Participate in meetings, training, or professional development activities as requested. Perform other related duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

Native or near-native proficiency in Spanish, with excellent oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in English. Experience using Spanish in everyday, educational, or professional settings. Ability to teach practical Spanish language skills to beginning learners. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Dependable, punctual, organized, and able to follow established procedures. Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and learning levels. Basic computer literacy and ability to use technology to support instruction.

Preferred:

Experience teaching, tutoring, training, or facilitating language learning. Experience developing practical language-learning activities. Experience working with adult learners, college students, or community education programs. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Canvas, Microsoft Teams, or similar educational technology. Experience using Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools or other digital resources to support learning and communication.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

Primarily office-based with occasional field visits or off-site events. Frequent interaction with students, faculty, and industry partners. May require evening or weekend hours during peak activity periods. May occasionally lift or carry up to 20 lbs. Regular movement between seated, standing, and walking positions. Standard office and occasional field environment. This position is classified as part-time and is typically scheduled for up to 20 hours per week. Regularly scheduled hours may be subject to change. Hours may not exceed 128 hours per one-month pay period. Not eligible for paid holidays, vacation or healthcare benefits beyond those required by law.
