Job Description
The Grier School, an all girls' private boarding/day school outside of Tyrone, PA in the mountainside village of Birmingham has openings due to a growing enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year. Grier is internationally and nationally known. Class sizes average between 8-10 students. Grier has elite academics and has a STEM program within the top 15% of all schools in Pennsylvania and top 20% in the nation. Grier is the #1 school for the arts in Pennsylvania, and is the #1 school in the United States for equestrian sports. Education / Faculty Reports to: Head of School / Department Chair Essential Duties and Responsibilities, including, but not limited to:
Genuine liking of teenager and an understanding of their development
Present lessons in a comprehensive and engaging manner using a variety of tools and methods to enable learning
Provide individualized instruction to each student by promoting interactive learning
Administer meaningful assessments that measure student comprehension
Understand and support Grier's school policies and procedures
Willingness to follow directions and to think outside of the box
Ability to adapt to teaching styles and materials
Enthusiasm for teaching as a profession and for the material and skills being taught
Six weekend duties, in addition to Opening Weekend, Parent's Weekend, and Graduation
Perform all other duties as required Academic Classroom and other
Job Requirements:
Keep the channels of communication open between Learning Skills faculty, private tutor, and student support consultant Maintain a Canvas dashboard for each course taught and update it on a weekly basis. Update homework sheets on a weekly basis.
Collaborate with other teachers, parents, and stakeholders and participate in regular meetings
Create, plan, and execute educational in-class and outdoor activities and events that promote learning
Maintain an inviting learning environment that meets the guidelines of the school
Check your Grier email on a daily basis
Attend specified department and/or faculty meetings
Attend activities and events in the evenings and on the weekends as assigned Education and/or
Work Experience Requirements:
Degree in teaching or in a specialized subject
Master's degree preferred
Thorough knowledge of teaching practices and legal educational guidelines
Well-organized, creative, and energetic
