We're Hiring:
Debate & Public Speaking Instructor The Research Institute is seeking an experienced Debate & Public Speaking Instructor to help middle and high school students build confidence in communication, critical thinking, and persuasive speaking. Responsibilities Teach debate fundamentals and advanced argumentation Coach students in public speaking, speech writing, and presentation skills Develop students' critical thinking, reasoning, and persuasive communication Guide students in research, case preparation, and rebuttal techniques Prepare students for debate tournaments and public speaking competitions (preferred) Provide personalized feedback to help students become confident communicators Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree in Communications, Political Science, English, Education, Law, or a related field Extensive experience teaching or coaching Debate and Public Speaking Familiarity with one or more debate formats (Public Forum, Lincoln-Douglas, Policy, Parliamentary, World Schools, etc.) Experience coaching speech events such as Original Oratory, Extemporaneous Speaking, Impromptu Speaking, or similar competitions is a plus Strong communication, coaching, and mentoring skills Experience working with middle and high school students Schedule Flexible weekday evenings and/or Saturdays Part-time / Contract Online and/or In-Person (Irvine, CA) Compensation Competitive hourly rate based on experience and qualifications.
