Job Description

Center for New Americans seeks ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) teachers for our level 1-2 and 3-4 evening classes. Classes meet mostly online but strive for monthly in-person evening meetings. Classes meet Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 8:00 PM September through mid-June. Teachers work 13.5 hours per week which includes teaching, preparation, student follow up, meetings and administrative tasks including attendance data entry. Compensation is in the range of $27-$28.50 /hour depending on experience.
Successful candidates will:
have a TESOL certificate and/or equivalent degree; have experience : teaching adult ESOL students in a community-based setting; teaching ESOL online using the Zoom platform; integrating technology into ESOL instruction planning lessons which align with DESE (the Mass. Department of Elementary & Secondary Education) MA ELPS and following a Scope & Sequence; be open to peer mentoring and close collaboration with other teachers, program advisors, and volunteers; assess and document students' participation and progress.
