PRIMARY PURPOSE
The ESL Teacher will pull small groups of students needing assistance to give them additional support in LA to ensure their Academic Success. All employees of SISD are expected to act with integrity, support organizational goals, communicate in a clear and respectful manner, championing the needs of our students and drive continuous improvement.
QUALIFICATONS
Required:
Bachelor's Degree or higher from an accredited College or University Valid Texas teaching certificate
ESL Certificate Preferred:
At least one year of student teaching or approved internship
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Knowledge of subjects assigned General knowledge of curriculum and instruction Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills Flexible and patient
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Provide additional student support through small groups for all grades Assist administrators and teachers with the planning and implementation of effective instructional interventions and tutorials. Monitor the progress of identified students following STAAR interventions. Monitor the academic progress of identified students following interventions based on CBA data. Communicate by maintaining on-going communication with administrators, and classroom teachers. Any other duties deemed necessary by the principal to further develop the education of the students as a whole.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom or adaptive equipment. This position is funded by Federal/and or State grants, you understand that your employment is expressly conditioned on the availability of full funding for the position.
