A Biology Professor teaches foundational biology ideas, truths, and methods to students through a combination of classroom instruction, lab experience, and assignments at colleges, trade schools or other institutes. May assist or lead in the creation of the biology curriculum to be taught. In addition to instruction, they may assist or lead in research initiatives relating to their field.

This veterinary technology faculty member will teach various courses in the department such as Veterinary Clinical Nursing Skills, Domestic Animal Behavior, Domestic Animal Disease and Nutrition, Farm Animal Medicine, Lab Animal Medicine, Anatomy and Physiology of Domestic Animals, Surgical Nursing and Dentistry and Veterinary Radiology. The ideal candidate is committed to using active learning strategies and to promoting student engagement. Qualified candidates will possess excellent writing and communication skills, academic credentials, technological proficiency, and the expertise to provide students in the program with the skills needed for future academic and career opportunities. This faculty member will teach at the Gardner Campus, online and at various clinical sites approved by the Program Director.
Responsibilities:
Teaches courses at all instructional locations and in different modes of instruction (e.g., online; hybrid) as assigned by the Dean in collaboration with the Program Director; Engages in effective advisement for approximately 18 students as well as refers students for services in order to assist in meeting their academic goals; Engages in professional development in best practices and pursues innovation in community college STEM pedagogy, instruction, and utilization of appropriate instructional technology (e.g., Blackboard LMS); Assists in data collection and analysis and evaluation of program and course student learning outcomes to guide ongoing curriculum development. This includes identifying program outcomes, developing competency statements, writing learning objectives, and selecting appropriate learning activities and evaluation strategies; Works effectively as part of the overall department demonstrating strong interpersonal skills needed for success in a highly collaborative environment; Contributes to the development of student recruitment and admissions, and evaluates student program progression, retention and graduation completion rates; Creates college laboratory learning experiences for student demonstration and evaluation of student learning outcomes; Actively participates in college governance and Departmental committees per MCCC Union contract; Maintains office hours per MCCC Union contract; Maintains expertise in area of specialization with ongoing professional development and/or fieldwork; Complies with faculty terms of employment as outlined within the MCCC Union Contract in collaboration with Division Dean and the Office of Human Resources.

Minimum Qualifications:
Certified / licensed Veterinary Technician (current); Bachelor's Degree or higher in Veterinary Science or related field; Commitment to teaching excellence; Expressed commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education.
Desired Qualifications:
Combined five years of teaching and employment as a veterinary technician; Experience teaching first generation and underserved students; Experience with active and experiential teaching and learning; Strong interpersonal skills; Knowledge of nationally-recognized reform efforts in the areas of instructional and curricular innovation practices. $57,289.00-$93,048 Actual Salary will be determined in accordance with the classification system of
