Job Description
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) seeks to hire a junior faculty member who will pursue a bold, innovative research program in multi-systems (i.e. interdisciplinary) biology. This is the first of multiple faculty searches for interdisciplinary scientists that will be carried out as part of CSHL's Foundations for the Future campus expansion project. Organismal health and function arise from the multi-factorial interactions of complex biological systems. Understanding how these systems interact across molecular, cellular, and functional scales is an emerging frontier of research in the life sciences. Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) has long been at the forefront of interdisciplinary science, and we are currently seeking a new colleague whose research integrates multiple biological systems to uncover novel mechanisms underlying health and disease. We are particularly interested in highly interdisciplinary research in areas such as cancer neuroscience, brain-body interactions, metabolism, immunology, microbiome-host interactions, neurodegeneration, gene-environment interactions, neuroimmunology, and related fields. We welcome research that bridges traditionally distinct areas of biology to uncover new principles governing health and disease. We will consider a broad range of early-career researchers holding a PhD and/or MD for this position. CSHL is a world-renowned research and educational institution located on the North Shore of Long Island, New York. The highly ranked School of Biological Sciences at CSHL trains PhD students, including through a recently launched Biology and Artificial Intelligence PhD program . CSHL also has partnerships with nearby Stony Brook University and with the Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra University in affiliation with Northwell Health, that allow PhD students there to do thesis research in CSHL labs. The successful candidate will receive dedicated space for wet lab research and a comprehensive start-up package that includes initial funding, salary, benefits, and access to exceptional on-site daycare. They will also benefit from a highly collaborative scientific environment, a supportive faculty mentoring structure, powerful high-performance computational resources, innovative core facilities, and access to the many scientific seminars, conferences, and courses run through the CSHL Meetings & Courses Program. Applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as their materials are ready. Applications will be accepted until October 15 th , 2026. Please provide a 1-page cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a 2-page statement of research accomplishments, a 3-page statement of future research plans, a 1-page leadership, teaching, and mentoring statement, and contact information for three references. Materials should be submitted through
