Job Description

Instructional Faculty, General Biology Clark State College Springfield, Ohio A full-time, nine-month,instructional faculty position in Biology is available beginning January 2027. A master's degree in biology or a master's degree withat least 18 graduate hours in biology or related field is required. College-level teaching experience is required; community collegeexperience teaching both in-person and online are preferred. Candidates with experience in General Biology and Anatomy and Physiology are especially encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to active learning, student-centeredpedagogy, and the effective use of technology to engage diverse learners. We are seeking an innovative educator who values collaboration andwill bring new perspectives and creative teaching strategies to the team. Responsibilities include teaching biology and/or anatomy andphysiology and related courses, developing and assessing curriculum, advising students, and participating in college-wide initiatives. Salary and rank are commensurate with qualifications and experience. Position reports to the Dean of Arts and Sciences and is located at the main campusin Springfield, OH. Each faculty member isrequired to:
Demonstrate knowledge and skills in the subject area(s) Use instructional and discipline specifictechnology Design courses that effectively meet student and curricular needs Accommodate students with varying backgroundsand learning styles Develop and use syllabi within College/School guidelines Deliver course contentsuccessfully Participate in the assessment of student learning and program review Manage courses ensuring students receiveregular feedback and college reports are submitted in a timely fashion Meet all classes or provide appropriatealternatives Provide external support for students and through cooperation with student services offices Maintainprofessional relationships with students Professional Growth As a professional educator, the faculty membershall continue to grow and develop as an educator and as a member of the profession through formal and/or informal activities, whichincrease knowledge and enhance teaching ability. Service to the College and Community As a member of a learningcommunity, faculty members are expected to contribute to the life of the College. Their activities advance the goals and image of one'sprogram, School, and the College as a whole.
All faculty are required to:
Participate in scheduledinstitutional meetings and activities Participate in program and College accreditation, curriculum development, and programassessment Assist in the formulation of school objectives and goals Serve on at least one faculty or All-College Committeeannually (after the first year of hire) Teach courses at a variety of times and locations in response to student and institutionalneed Participate in student and/or community activities that foster goodwill and promote the mission of the College Assistin the articulation of courses and programs with secondary and post- secondary institutions Maintain collegial relationships withother college personnel Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those thatmust be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
