Job Summary N236 Microbiology This course will primarily focus on the concepts of general microbiology that are essential to maintaining environments free of contamination, and for protecting both patients and providers from common infectious diseases. Morbidity and mortality associated with infectious diseases assume great significance in both developed and developing regions of the world. Furthermore, healthcare-associated infections represent a serious, yet often preventable, threat to patient safety. Students will learn about the major bacterial, fungal, viral, and parasitic infections that affect humans, both locally and globally. Basic epidemiological principles and procedures useful in the surveillance and investigation of health-related states or events pertaining to infectious diseases, including immunizations will also be introduced. The relationships among disease, communities, societies, and culture, including global, will be discussed.

This appointment is for Fall term, 2026 monthly. Responsibilities

• The Lecturer appointed to this position is expected to teach the didactic section(s), which include, but are not limited to, weekly lectures, weekly office hours, and/or student meetings, assessment development, and evaluation of student performance.

Furthermore, the Lecturer is responsible for grading all assignments and for computing final grades in a timely fashion. This position includes classroom and/or clinical teaching that may take place in a hospital or clinic setting and may include other on-site work hours, even if the University and/or the School of Nursing is taking part in remote work/alternative teaching. Required Qualifications

• A master's degree is required.

Preference will be given to applicants who have didactic teaching experience and content expertise in microbiology. Prior to start date must be in compliance with all health requirements including standard precautions such as Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, orientations, licenses/certifications, policies and procedures both internal and external to the University for your assigned classroom(s) and/or clinical site(s).
