School of Health Sciences General Summary The Odessa College Adjunct Biology Instructor is responsible for teaching up to two courses per academic year. Teaching assignments may include Biology I and Biology II for majors, Microbiology, Genetics, Environmental Biology, and other biology-related courses. The instructor will be expected to provide high-quality instruction that supports student learning and aligns with Odessa College's mission and academic standards.

Specific Position Duties Teach assigned courses in accordance with the approved curriculum, established course objectives, and Odessa College academic standards. Maintain current knowledge and expertise within the field of biology by staying informed of developments, emerging research, and best practices in both the discipline and instructional methods. Design and implement appropriately rigorous and engaging coursework that encourages critical thinking and helps students achieve their full academic potential. Provide students with clear, comprehensive, and timely written information regarding course expectations, including syllabi, grading policies, assignment instructions, attendance requirements, and evaluation criteria. Develop and administer examinations, quizzes, laboratory activities, and other assessments that accurately measure student learning and are aligned with course objectives and content. Prepare thoroughly for each class by developing lesson plans, organizing instructional materials, and devoting adequate time to classroom and laboratory instruction. Present course material in a clear, organized, and understandable manner that supports a positive and effective learning environment. Develop, revise, and maintain instructional materials, laboratory exercises, assignments, and other course resources that support student success. Foster an inclusive and respectful learning environment that promotes student engagement, participation, and academic achievement. Communicate with students in a timely, professional, and effective manner by responding to questions, providing feedback, and offering appropriate academic support. Evaluate and grade student assignments, examinations, laboratory work, and other coursework in a fair and timely manner. Submit final grades and all required academic records within established institutional deadlines. Adhere to all Odessa College policies, procedures, and instructional requirements while fulfilling all assigned faculty responsibilities Minimum Qualifications Master's Degree in Biology or any Master's degree with 18 completed graduate hours in Biology from an accredited institution.
