Job Description
Sussex County Community College is seeking a highly qualified, enthusiastic and student-focused Full Time Accounting and Business Faculty Instructor. This full-time tenure track Accounting and Business Faculty position is a teaching and discipline leadership role in the Professional Studies Department and collaborates with both the Dean of Faculty/Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs and the Department members. This faculty member must have a strong demonstrated background and expertise in the accounting and business areas and will contribute to a program that includes degrees and certificates in Business Administration, Business Management, Accounting, Marketing, International Business, Entrepreneurship, Supervision, Communications, Supply Chain, and Economics. Essential to the success of this position includes the following: excellence in teaching both in-class and online courses while utilizing the Canvas Learning Management System; the development and implementation of curricula; ensuring course assessment; undertaking professional development; applying the college/departmental strategic plan; continuing service to the college; implementing community outreach; mentoring students; and taking leadership roles when assigned. The faculty member will contribute to student success by advising students and providing accounting and business expertise. Possess a deep concern for others and the contributions they make to SCCC Possess an appreciation, understanding, tolerance, and commitment to free speech and diversity within an academic organization. Create a dynamic teaching and learning environment for students and demonstrate an understanding of the broad spectrum of student needs. Participate in assessment of learning outcomes. Demonstrate active promotion of student mentorship and retention, including advisement. Participate in professional development through scholarship, creative activity and service. Assist in implementing an active research program involving undergraduates. Serve on college committees, including those that are part of the college governance process. Participate in curriculum development and textbook selection. Contribute to departmental budget development. Collaborate within the department and with cross-departmental initiatives. Demonstrate skill at networking with community partners. Provide support and oversight to the Business & Entrepreneurial Club and student organizations on campus. Embrace Campus Life initiatives that foster student involvement. Possess effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as organizational skills, aimed at facilitating communication with supervisors/students/colleagues.
