• The College of Business at Stony Brook University invites applications for a non-tenure track part time lecturer position to teach Biotechnology Enterprises - Finance & Operations during the Fall 2026 semester.

This course covers 1) the financial and human capital needed for growing successful science-based technology companies, with a focus on biotech 2) specific methods for capital-intense technology, and 3) ctors Developing management teams for different stages of an enterprise. This course is one of the main pillars of the Advanced Graduate Certificate in Life Science Innovation and Entrepreneurship (https://www.stonybrook.edu/bme/graduate/agc.pcf) , designed to enhance student's understanding of how biological sciences translate into new therapeutics, diagnostics and/or medical devices, and provided an introduction to the fundamental business and industry aspects of critical in leveraging technology platforms into biological sciences oriented start-up companies. The successful candidate can anticipate working closely with the Department of Biomedical Engineering as well as the New York State Center for Biotechnology (https://centerforbiotechnology.org/) to ensure the course aligns with the certificate's intent and the Center for Biotechnology's objective of preparing students for careers in the biotechnology and life sciences industry. All candidates are expected to teach Finance and Operations, and to contribute to the services and professional missions of the College. As a part-time lecturer, you will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive and engaging course related to Biotechnology Enterprises. The successful candidate will demonstrate a passion for teaching, a commitment to student success, and a deep understanding of the international of the biotechnology industry and developing enterprises. • Responsibilities & Requirements:

• Design and deliver engaging lectures and facilitate class discussions on topics related to biotechnology enterprises
• Develop and update course materials, syllabi, and assessments to ensure relevance and effectiveness.
• Teach students in understanding the complexities the evolving business plans into viable companies, financial fluency, valuation and management team recruitment and development
• Provide one-on-one mentoring to students supporting their academic and professional growth.
• Stay current with industry trends and incorporate real-world examples and case studies into the curriculum.
• Encourage critical thinking, problem solving, and innovative approaches in the classroom.
• Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and research projects.
• Contribute to the academic community through research, publications and conference presentations as time allows.
• Qualifications

• Required Qualifications:

• Must hold unrestricted employment authorization for the U.S
• Master's degree or higher in a discipline relevant to the life sciences or business/entrepreneurship
• Demonstrated diverse expertise within the biotechnology and life science industry including but not limited to entrepreneurship, financing and value creation, operations and project management, and leadership and human capital
• Teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Analytical and quantitative skills relevant to cash flow and enterprise value

• Preferred Qualifications:

• PhD, JD, or MD in a discipline relevant to the life sciences or business/entrepreneurship. Professional experience in teaching, translational research/technology development in an industry, investment or academic setting, grant writing and knowledge of biomedical product development and company formation
