School of Business and Industry General Summary The Business Professions Faculty is a full-time, in-person teaching position within the Business Professions department at Odessa College. The Business Professions faculty member is responsible for providing high-quality instruction, supporting student learning and success, and contributing to the continued growth and improvement of academic programs. The faculty member develops and delivers engaging coursework, supports student achievement through effective teaching practices, and remains current in their discipline to ensure relevant and industry-aligned instruction. The Business Professions faculty member collaborates with colleagues, participates in department and college initiatives, and contributes to the mission of Odessa College by promoting student success, academic excellence, and workforce development. This position also supports program growth through curriculum development, student engagement, and participation in institutional activities. Specific Position Duties Maintains current knowledge and expertise in the teaching discipline, including industry trends, instructional practices, and subject matter developments. Demonstrates flexibility and willingness to teach assigned courses across various formats, times, locations, and delivery methods as needed and reasonably requested by Odessa College. Develops and delivers appropriately challenging coursework that supports student learning, academic growth, and achievement of course and program objectives. Provides students with clear written expectations, including course syllabi, policies, assignment instructions, grading criteria, and other relevant course materials. Develops and administers assessments appropriate to course content, including a comprehensive final evaluation that measures student achievement of course objectives. Promotes a positive learning environment that encourages student engagement, participation, academic integrity, and the exchange of ideas. Maintains an effective instructional and assessment environment in traditional, online, hybrid, and distance learning settings that supports student success and academic standards. Prepares adequately for classes, laboratories, and other assigned instructional activities and begins instructional sessions promptly. Communicates course content clearly and effectively using appropriate instructional methods and resources. Responds to student questions, concerns, and requests in a timely and professional manner through class interactions, office hours, electronic communication, and other appropriate methods. Completes departmental responsibilities and routine procedures as assigned by the department chair. Submits required reports, grades, schedules, attendance records, and other documentation accurately and within established deadlines. Builds and maintains effective working relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, students, and community partners. Provides student guidance and support related to degree plans, degree applications, and completion requirements as assigned. Assists with department recruitment, marketing, outreach, and program promotion activities. Participates in college committees, department meetings, institutional initiatives, professional development activities, and college events. Engages in service activities that support Odessa College, the Business Professions department, and the surrounding community. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Associate degree in the teaching discipline or a related field from an accredited institution. Demonstrated knowledge of current business trends and practices. Ability to apply real-world business experience to support student learning and classroom instruction. Preferred Qualifications Doctorate or Master's Degree in Business.
