Job Title:
Teaching Professor, Department of Chemistry, University of San Francisco Job Summary:
The Department of Chemistry at the University of San Francisco invites applications for a one-year full-time Teaching Professor position at the Assistant Professor level, to begin August 2027. This is a teaching-focused position with no research responsibilities. Our ACS-certified department offers a BS in Chemistry, a BS with Biochemistry concentration, a BS with Medicinal/Synthetic Chemistry concentration, and a thesis-based MS in Chemistry. The department is supported by a full-time stockroom manager, organic lab coordinator/NMR manager, instrumentation specialists, and a science safety officer.

Job Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will teach General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry lecture and laboratory courses, and may also be asked to teach Medicinal Chemistry. A full-time teaching assignment consists of a combination of lecture sections (4 units each) and laboratory sections (2 units each) totaling 12 teaching units per semester. The successful candidate will also be expected to engage in service to the d epartment and college.
Minimum Qualifications :
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. (or expect to complete their Ph.D. by August 202 7 ) in Chemistry or a closely related field. This position requires a commitment to excellence in teaching within a culturally diverse environment. In addition, a strong record of teaching at the university level, evidence of scholarship, and an understanding of and commitment to supporting the mission of the University of San Francisco are required.
