Under the Supervision of the Recreation Specialist, the Men's Ice Hockey Coach performs the following responsibilities: Adhere to the policies and guidelines set forth by the University, the Office of Student Activities and the Athletic Department. Establish conditioning and training programs to physically and mentally prepare the participants for competition. Provide a schedule (practices/games) and information on any tournament competition in advance to the Associate Athletic Director and Assistant Director of Student Activities. Attend all practices and contests except under prior arrangement. Be attentive to student needs, concerns and potential problems. Employ a sense of fair play encouraging the development of skills and recognizing the importance of active student participation. Develop and employ safety standards; inspect equipment and facilities for potential safety problems prior to use. Recognize, along with participants, potential health or injury problems and counsel as necessary. Promote participant responsibility in the display of proper conduct, and promotion of good sportsmanship, both on and off the field. Ensure compliance with any conference, league or union rules governing eligibility, competition, and financial obligations. At all times, display the proper image befitting that of a coach and/or instructor and representative of Eastern and the Department. Coach Administrative Policies Assist the Club officers with their assigned responsibilities and review and maintain team roster. Assure that all Club financial obligations are met (league membership, officials' fees, etc.) Maintain complete inventory records of all Club equipment and uniforms. Keep records of all transactions involving Club accounts and Club budgets and provide accountability on use of all funds. At the end of each fiscal year in cooperation with club officers, submit an accurate itemized budget to the appropriate SGA Committee for the following year, and be prepared to defend the proposal. 2 - 5 years of hockey coaching experience. Certified coach under USA Hockey and must meet ACHA qualifications Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills Experience with Microsoft office. Knowledge of USA Hockey safety rules and regulations, NECHA, and ACHA policies and procedures. BIO 305 - Animal World explores the animal kingdom, ranging from microorganisms to mammals. It offers a comprehensive investigation into the biology of each significant animal group, alongside an examination of human interactions with animals, including diseases, animal consumption, domestication, and toxic animal species. Students will enhance their quantitative literacy and critical thinking through data analysis and effective communication of information using graphs, equations, and tables. These proficiencies will be honed through a variety of assignments and collaborative projects concentrating on distinct animal groups. Throughout the course, students will adopt the scientific method, thinking like hypothesis-driven scientists via observation, inquiry, and experimentation. Three hours per week.

BIO 200 - Ecology and the Environment introduces students to the study of ecology and evaluates how organisms interact with one another and their physical environment. Course topics focus on interactions that influence population dynamics, species distributions, community organization, and ecosystem processes. Human impacts on other organisms and the environment are also considered. Course topics are presented within an evolutionary framework, drawing on connections to human experience and other sub-disciplines of biology. Special emphasis is placed on critical evaluation of scientific information, the scientific method, and ecology as a scientific enterprise. Three hours per week.

Job Overview:

Eastern Connecticut State University, Department of Environmental Earth Science, is seeking a qualified, adjunct instructor to teach Health/Safety-Hazardous Waste (EES 423) during the spring 2026 semester. The instructor is responsible for the supervision, instruction, and evaluation of students enrolled in the course. The content taught for the course must satisfy the OSHA 40-hour off-site training requirements in hazardous materials safety standards (HAZWOPER; 29 CFR 1910.120).

This position is a semester-by-semester appointment. The course is taught in person on the campus of Eastern Connecticut State University. The course begins January 20, 2026, and will meet one afternoon per week (4pm to 6:45pm) for the length of the semester.

Responsibilities:

training: the course shall provide students with all content necessary to satisfy current OSHA 40 certification requirements such as: hazard materials recognition and properties, toxicology and chemical exposure, air monitoring, protective clothing and equipment, decontamination, and health and safety programs/plans.

Students who successfully complete the course shall become OSHA 40 certified.

When and where possible, the instructor should use various teaching methods, including interactive exercises, demonstrations, real-world case studies, and hands-on activities/experiences to help students master the required skills needed for certification
