This position is funded through CSI (Comprehensive Support and Improvement) federal funds and is contingent upon continued funding. Position Summary The Elementary Instructional Coach serves as a key driver of instructional improvement and student achievement across grades K-5. This role provides job-embedded coaching, professional learning, and data-driven support to teachers to strengthen Tier 1 instruction, small-group instruction, and intervention practices, particularly in literacy and mathematics. The Instructional Coach must have strong knowledge of the Science of Reading and mathematical practices, and works collaboratively with school leadership and instructional staff to implement high-quality, standards-aligned instruction aligned to the school's CSI improvement goals. Location - Empower Community School Lower Campus Reports To - Principal Key Responsibilities Instructional Coaching & Teacher Support Provide ongoing, job-embedded coaching to teachers through modeling, co-planning, co-teaching, observation, and feedback cycles. Support teachers in implementing Science of Reading-aligned literacy instruction and standards-based mathematical practices. Support teachers in planning and delivering rigorous, engaging, and standards-aligned lessons in literacy and math. Facilitate effective use of curriculum, assessments, and instructional resources. Support implementation of small-group instruction, intervention, and differentiation strategies. Build strong, trust-based coaching relationships focused on continuous instructional improvement. Data & Instructional Improvement Support teachers in analyzing student data (e.g., MAP, DIBELS, iReady, ACAP, classroom assessments) to inform instruction and intervention. Collaborate with school leadership to monitor progress toward CSI goals and school improvement priorities. Help design and support progress monitoring systems for Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 instruction. Support teachers in using data to plan reteaching, enrichment, and targeted supports. Professional Learning Plan and facilitate professional learning sessions, PLCs, and instructional meetings aligned to school improvement goals. Provide training and support in Science of Reading, structured literacy, and effective mathematical instructional practices. Support new and developing teachers with instructional planning, classroom management, and curriculum implementation. School-wide Instructional Systems Support fidelity of curriculum implementation and instructional frameworks. Collaborate with administrators, interventionists, and support staff to ensure alignment of instruction and interventions. Contribute to the development and refinement of instructional systems, walkthrough tools, and coaching cycles. Maintain documentation and evidence of coaching activities as required for CSI federal funding compliance.Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) in Education or related field Valid Alabama teaching certification (or ability to obtain) Minimum of 3-5 years of successful elementary classroom teaching experience Demonstrated knowledge of the Science of Reading and mathematical practices Proven experience using student data to inform instruction Strong instructional, communication, facilitation, and coaching skills Demonstrated success improving student achievementPreferred:
LETRS-trained or currently enrolled in LETRS training Previous experience as an instructional coach, teacher leader, or interventionist Experience working in CSI, Title I, or school improvement settings Experience with MTSS, structured literacy, and standards-based math instruction Skills & Competencies Deep understanding of elementary literacy (Science of Reading) and mathematics instruction Ability to model, observe, and provide actionable feedback to teachers Strong adult learning and facilitation skills Data-driven instructional planning and progress monitoring Excellent organization, communication, and collaboration skills High level of professionalism, confidentiality, and integrity Strong commitment to equity, high expectations, and student success Work Conditions & Funding Notice This position is funded through CSI (Comprehensive Support and Improvement) federal funds.
