Job Overview Decatur Heritage Christian Academy is seeking a skilled and dynamic Varsity Tennis Coach to lead our boys' and girls' tennis teams this coming season. (The first practice date as scheduled by AHSAA is January 11, 2027). This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to inspire student-athletes, develop their skills, and foster a passion for tennis. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in tennis instruction and coaching, excellent communication skills, and a genuine enthusiasm for working with youth. Additionally, in keeping with the mission and purposes of the school, the candidate must agree with the school's statement of faith found on its website. As a key member of our athletic program, the coach will motivate students to achieve their personal best while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and values consistent with the Christian faith. Duties Plan and deliver meaningful tennis instruction/coaching tailored to varsity boys' and girls' teams, focusing on skill development, strategy, and game tactics Lead team practices, matches, and tournaments with enthusiasm and professionalism Provide individualized coaching, as necessary, to help athletes improve technique, fitness, and mental toughness Foster a positive team environment that encourages respect, discipline, and sportsmanship Monitor player progress and provide constructive feedback Collaborate with the school's Athletic Director on team logistics, scheduling, and any necessary reporting Ensure safety protocols are followed during all activities, including proper use of sports equipment and adherence to health guidelines Requirements Proven experience coaching tennis at the high school or varsity level with a track record of developing competitive teams and/or individuals Strong knowledge of tennis techniques, rules, and game strategies Experience working with adolescents in a sports or educational setting Excellent communication skills to motivate students and liaise with parents and school staff Ability to teach tennis-specific training instruction effectively Commitment to be at all practices, matches, and tournaments scheduled.
