Job Description

Varsity Cheer Coach Citronelle High School Certified Job Number 2300290160 Start Date Open Date 04/06/2026 Closing Date The duties include but are not limited to: Teaches in certified area and serves also as head cheer coach. Coaching duties are supplementary and secondary to teaching duties. Establishes objectives and plans learning experiences. Evaluates the educational program and/or student progress. Implements activities using a variety of techniques that utilize instructional time to meet objectives. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to achieve a functional learning atmosphere. Exhibits positive human relations skills. Communicates with parents/guardians, colleagues, and community groups. Demonstrates proficiency in written and oral communication and maintains and submits records and reports. Adheres to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state and federal rules and regulations. Engages in personal professional growth and demonstrates professional ethics and leadership. Coaching duties are supplementary and may be changed or withdrawn by the principal or system at any time. Have year-round ("year round" pertains to "school year") coaching responsibilities. Must meet requirements in the Salary Schedule in order to receive the coaching supplement. Supervises contests, serves as ticket taker/seller, and any other duties as delegated by the principal or athletic director. Responsible for the general coordination of his/her athletic program during the season as delegated by the principal and athletic director. Responsible for preparation prior to practice and athletics events and any tasks following practice and athletic events with approval of the principal and athletic director. Responsible for teaching the art of the game through exploration, demonstration, observation, and evaluation both during practices and the game itself. Serves as role model at all times for athletes and responsible for the conduct of the players at practice and athletic events under his/her direct supervision. High levels of sportsmanship should be taught and displayed by both coach and athlete. Must be present at all practices and games. Additional responsibilities are required during the summer for an additional supplement.
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have a current, valid Alabama Teaching Certificate.
REQUIREMENT
Must have previous cheer coaching experience. Duty Days 187
Salary Range:
From/To As per State Salary Matrix - plus any Athletic Supplements. Athletic Supplements may be withdrawn or added at any time and are not considered base pay. Additional compensation is included for Master's Degree and AA Certification and DR degree. Additional Job Information •Applicants selected for certified positions must have undergone an ABI/FBI criminal history background check (fingerprinting administered through sites selected and approved by the MCPSS and State of Alabama Education Department) and been declared suitable and fit to teach under state law. Applicants selected must also pass a drug-screening test via forms provided by Human Resources during the selection process.•
