Job Summary The University of Texas at Tyler Athletics Department is hiring one or more basketball coaches to join our team. The candidate(s) selected will be hired at the level matching their relevant coaching experience and the needs of the department. The Associate Head Coach will coach and manage all elements of anNCAA DII
sport or program with minimal or no supervision. This position is responsible for recruiting and coaching student athletes who are both responsible and academically driven. The Associate Head Coach will assist the Head Coach in all aspects of the program, including leading daily practices during both team and individual segments. The Assistant Coach will recruit, coach, and mentor responsible and academically driven student-athletes for the program. The position will assist the Head Coach in all facets of the program, including conducting daily practices during the team and individual segments. These roles will be required to travel, work evening hours, and some weekend hours. The positions will work in all types of weather conditions, from the cold to extreme heat, as well as in a fluid environment. The coach will drive 12-passenger vans on occasion. Major Responsibilities/Duties/Critical Tasks Responsible for the successful coaching of the team, including maximizing the team's potential and abilities. Execute a successful recruitment and retention plan. Recruit student-athletes who fit the culture academically and athletically. Scheduling, planning, and supervising practices and competitions. Planning team and individual travel. Developing and maintaining the operating budget. Assist with fundraising and team social media. Help administer all aspects of the program, ensuring compliance with departmental, institutional, Lone Star Conference, andNCAA DII
rules and regulations. Participate in alumni and booster engagements, including promotion of the program on social media platforms. Submit all receipts and budget reports on time as directed by the Director of Athletics. Ensure satisfactory academic performance, physical, emotional, and social welfare of student-athletes. Provide a safe environment for student-athletes. Contribute to the maintenance of good working relationships with all athletic staff members and student-athletes. Help develop a competitive program within the Lone Star Conference with the goal of postseason participation. Promote the team and Patriot Athletic programs within the University community, Tyler, and East Texas. Assist with organizing camps and facility maintenance as needed. Other duties as assigned. Required Education/Experience Associate Head Coach Bachelor's degree in related field. Five (5) years of collegiate assistant coaching experience or previous head coaching NCAA DI or DII. rules. Certifications/Licenses Required Must maintain certification in first aid/CPR/AED throughout the entire appointment. Texas Driver's License within 30 (thirty) days of employment. Basic knowledge of computers including databases. Additional Information The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
