Special Service Contract (Stipend $1,000 per-team) The girls' basketball coach is responsible for leading, organizing, and developing a positive and competitive middle school athletic program. This role focuses on teaching fundamental skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and character while creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for student-athletes. Coaches work closely with the athletic director, the after school activities coordinator, school administration, staff, students, and families to support the overall mission of the school.
Job Summary:
Plan, organize, and lead all practices and team activities Collaborate with other coaches Teach sport-specific fundamentals, rules, and strategies appropriate for middle school athletes Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership, and respect at all times Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes growth, effort, and learning Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and team events Communicate effectively with athletes, parents/guardians, school staff, and administration Ensure compliance with school, league, and district policies and procedures Maintain attendance, equipment inventories, uniforms, and basic records as required Model professionalism and serve as a positive role model for students Prioritize student safety, including proper warm-ups, conditioning, and injury protocols
Qualifications:
Experience coaching or participating in the sport at the youth, middle school, or higher level Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Ability to work positively with middle school-aged students Knowledge of age-appropriate training techniques and skill development Ability to manage team dynamics and support student growth both on and off the court Required background checks and district/school clearances Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card required CPR/First Aid certification preferred but not required Teaching or coaching experience preferred but not required
Working Conditions:
Practices and games occur after school hours and may include evenings and occasional weekends Practices are Monday through Thursday from 3:30 - 5:00 pm Games are one day/week Due to our limited court space & time allocated for practices/games, depending on how many student-athletes join, teams may only practice one time per week, with one game per week, equalling two days per week for the overall commitment. It's also possible you'll practice two days per week, with one game per week, equalling three days per week for the overall commitment. No practices or games on Fridays Work is performed indoors Physical activity is required, including standing, walking, running, and demonstrating skills Seasonal position aligned with the athletic calendar High school diploma or equivalent certification required. All employees are subject to a criminal background check.
