Special Service Contract ($4,000 stipend) Summary Coconino High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to lead our Varsity Girls Basketball program. The Head Coach will be responsible for developing student-athletes both on and off the court, fostering a competitive and positive team environment, and promoting the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic success. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of basketball strategies, and a commitment to the overall development of each player. Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive training program that enhances the skills and performance of student-athletes.
  • Plan and conduct daily practices, ensuring that all training sessions are productive and engaging.
  • Organize and oversee all aspects of the Varsity Girls Basketball program, including game strategy, player development, and competition preparation.
  • Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship.
  • Communicate effectively with players, parents, faculty, and the community to promote the program and its objectives.
  • Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes and ensure compliance with school and state eligibility requirements.
  • Collaborate with athletic administration to schedule games, coordinate travel arrangements, and manage team logistics.
  • Evaluate player performance and provide constructive feedback to support individual and team growth.
  • Serve as a role model and mentor to student-athletes, promoting personal development and life skills through sports.
  • Attend coaching clinics and professional development opportunities to stay current with basketball trends and coaching techniques. Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Sports Management, Physical Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous coaching experience at the high school level or higher, preferably in basketball.
  • Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their best both on and off the court.
  • Commitment to promoting academic excellence and character development among student-athletes.
  • First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain prior to the start of the season.
  • Must pass a background check and adhere to all school and district policies regarding athletics.
  • Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required for practices and games.
  • NFHS Fundamentals in Coaching and NFHS Concussion in Sport Certifications
