Part-Time, W-2 Paid Training Available | Flexible Scheduling | Advancement Opportunities About Manta Shark Aquatics Manta Shark Aquatics is a growing Southern California swim school focused on progress-based, individualized swim instruction . We work with swimmers across different ages and ability levels—from children developing their first water skills to more advanced swimmers working on stroke development, endurance, and competitive swimming. Our program has grown largely through family referrals and word of mouth , and we are looking for motivated, dependable coaches to grow with our team. Who We're Looking For We are happy to train candidates who have a strong swimming foundation, enjoy working with children, and are interested in developing their skills as a coach. We especially welcome college students and recent graduates interested in education, kinesiology, psychology, child development, ABA, special needs, sports, coaching, or other related fields.

Backgrounds we especially value include:

Competitive swimming Recreational swimming with strong swimming skills Water polo Lifeguarding Swim instruction or coaching Kinesiology or exercise science Education or teaching Psychology Child development ABA or other special needs services Youth sports and athletic coaching Other academic and professional backgrounds are also highly welcomed. Your reliability, ability to work with children, willingness to learn, and comfort in the water matter greatly to us. What You'll Do Teach private, semi-private, and/or small-group swim lessons based on experience and readiness Help swimmers develop water confidence, safety skills, stroke technique, endurance, and overall swimming ability Adapt instruction to each student's skill level, personality, and learning needs Maintain close supervision and a safe teaching environment at all times Motivate students through positive, clear, and age-appropriate coaching Communicate professionally with parents about student progress Work collaboratively with other Manta Shark coaches and leadership Participate in ongoing training and professional development Opportunities may also be available to work with our swim team based on experience and interest Qualifications Previous swimming experience is required Strong swimming ability and confidence in the water Competitive swimming experience is a strong plus Comfortable and enthusiastic about working with children Dependable, punctual, responsible, and professional Able to communicate clearly with students, parents, and other coaches Willing to learn and receive coaching and feedback Previous teaching or coaching experience is preferred but not required CPR/First Aid/AED and/or lifeguard certification is a plus; certification options may be discussed with qualified candidates who do not currently hold them Training & Development Paid training is available. Selected candidates may begin training following completion of the interview and onboarding process. New coaches will have opportunities to work alongside experienced Manta Shark instructors, observe lessons, receive hands-on coaching, and gradually take on teaching responsibilities based on readiness. We are interested in developing coaches for the long term, and advancement opportunities are available as instructors gain experience and demonstrate strong teaching, reliability, and leadership. Schedule We currently have opportunities at our Monrovia and Pasadena locations . We understand that many great candidates are college students or have other professional commitments, so we can work with different availability and schedules . Specific teaching days, hours, locations, and lesson assignments will be discussed individually. Consistent availability once a teaching schedule is established is important because our students and families depend on continuity with their coaches. Compensation & Growth Starting compensation is listed with this position. Manta Shark also offers opportunities for advancement and increased compensation as coaches develop their instructional skills, experience, reliability, and responsibilities within the program.
