We are looking for an Assistant Tennis Coach who wants to be part of this approach and grow within a modern, science-based tennis organization. This is an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to develop not only as a tennis coach, but also as a performance coach and sports professional . The Role The Assistant Coach works alongside GSET's lead coaches to deliver our training methodology across youth development, competitive, and high-performance programs. You will help create an environment where athletes learn to understand why they are doing something—not simply what to do. The ideal candidate is curious, observant, energetic, coachable, and interested in the intersection of tennis and STEM . You do not need to be an expert in biomechanics or sports science when you start. However, you should have the curiosity and willingness to learn and apply these concepts on court. Key ResponsibilitiesTennis & Performance Development Assist lead coaches in planning and delivering structured tennis training sessions. Demonstrate and reinforce fundamental tennis techniques, including strokes, movement, footwork, positioning, and tactical concepts. Assist with progressive drills designed around specific technical, tactical, physical, and motor-learning objectives. Observe athletes and communicate relevant technical and movement observations to lead coaches. Help athletes develop better movement efficiency, coordination, balance, reaction, spatial awareness, and decision-making . Provide appropriate feedback while maintaining consistency with GSET's coaching methodology. Assist with competitive training, point construction, match-play situations, and performance development. Science-Based Coaching Learn and apply GSET's science- and engineering-based training principles . Help coaches collect and organize relevant athlete observations and performance data. Assist with simple performance assessments, testing protocols, and training metrics. Understand the relationship between biomechanics, physics, motor learning, and tennis performance . Encourage athletes to understand the principles behind their training rather than simply memorizing techniques. Participate in ongoing internal education and professional development within the GSET methodology. Athlete Development Build positive relationships with athletes while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. Help create an environment based on discipline, curiosity, accountability, resilience, and growth. Reinforce GSET's emphasis on process, learning, problem-solving, and long-term athlete development . Help athletes develop independence and the ability to analyze and solve problems on court. Recognize differences between athletes and adapt communication and coaching support accordingly. Encourage strong sportsmanship, professionalism, and respect. Communication & Program Support Communicate professionally with lead coaches and GSET staff regarding athlete development and session execution. Provide appropriate observations and feedback to lead coaches regarding athletes. Support communication with parents when directed by the lead coach. Assist with attendance, equipment, court setup, and session organization. Maintain a clean, safe, and professional training environment. Follow all GSET safety procedures and facility requirements. What We Are Looking For We are looking for someone who is more than a ball feeder . The strongest candidate will be someone who enjoys asking: "Why does this work?" and "How can we make this athlete better?" Required Strong interest in tennis, athletic development, coaching, or sports performance. Ability to communicate clearly with children, teenagers, and adults. Ability to work effectively as part of a coaching team. Professional, punctual, reliable, and responsible. Comfortable receiving feedback and continuously improving. Ability to create a positive but structured training environment. Willingness to learn GSET's methodology and coaching standards. CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain certification. Preferred Previous tennis coaching or competitive playing experience. College tennis experience or competitive junior tennis background. Degree or coursework in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Sports Science, Biomechanics, Engineering, Physics, Psychology, Motor Learning, Physical Education , or a related field. Experience working with youth athletes. Understanding of biomechanics, movement analysis, strength & conditioning, or sports performance.. USTA Safe Play, certification. CPR/AED and First Aid certification. We are also interested in candidates from STEM and other athletic backgrounds who have a strong interest in tennis. A candidate with a strong scientific or engineering mindset and a willingness to learn tennis coaching may be a better fit for GSET than a traditional tennis instructor who is not interested in our methodology.
