Job Description

Team Member /
Swim Instructor Location:
Norco & Riverside, CA About Us Big Kahuna Swim Academy is the swim school under the Childhood Drowning Prevention Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to making sure no child in our community drowns. We teach 800+ lessons a month across Norco and Riverside, including a significant number of special needs learners. This isn't just a job — it's mission-driven work that saves lives. What You'll Do Teach private, 1:1 swim lessons using our proprietary method (full training provided — no swim instruction experience required) Support day-to-day operations as needed — this may include front desk/phone support, administrative tasks, and general facility support Work directly alongside leadership and take initiative wherever the business needs it What We Expect From You We hire for character, not résumés. Before you apply, understand this is what we actually require — not aspirational values on a poster, but how we evaluate you starting day one: Reliability/Dependability. You do what you say, when you say it. No chasing required. You show up to every scheduled shift, on time, and you don't call out. Coachability/Growth-Oriented. You take feedback and implement it — not defend against it. You have a growth mindset and are always looking to get better. Initiative/Managing Up. You see what needs to happen and you handle it. You take things off leadership's plate. You don't add more to it. Emotional Maturity. You regulate yourself first. You handle hard moments without making them harder. Your emotions don't run your decisions. Accountability. You own your mistakes. You self-report before you're caught. You close the loop. Communication. You're clear, direct, professional, and proactive — with your boss, your team, your students, and their families. You close the loop. Solution-Oriented. When you bring a concern, you bring a solution with it. You don't just point out problems. If any of the above makes you uncomfortable, this isn't the right role for you. If it sounds like exactly how you already operate, we want to meet you. Requirements No prior swim instruction experience needed — full training provided Must be willing to do whatever the work requires (teaching, phones, admin, operations) Reliable transportation
