Some sessions may also be conducted online. Applicants must have reliable transportation and consistent internet access. About Meyerson Education Services (MES) Meyerson Education Services, founded by Miranda Meyerson, provides personalized academic coaching for students from kindergarten through college. Our specialty in supporting neurodivergent learners, including those with ADHD, dyslexia, and dysgraphia, or students for whom the classroom is just not working at the moment. Using strengths-based, science-backed approaches, we help students build the confidence and skills to thrive as independent learners. Our coaching spans all core subjects, executive functioning, and study skills. We collaborate closely with families and teachers and send weekly updates, to reduce school stress and foster meaningful growth. We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and skilled Academic Coach to join our team. You'll work 1:1 with students in-person in grades 6-12, supporting math, executive functioning, and overall academic confidence. Math and Executive Functioning Coach - Middle and High School Meyerson Education Services is looking for an empathic and encouraging academic coach to support elementary school executive functioning and math. Qualifications (Middle and High School - Math and EF) Expertise in supporting students with ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning differences, especially in math and executive functioning 8+ years of teaching or tutoring experience MA in Education or Special Education, with a focus on secondary math, or an Education Therapy certificate Experience and training using multi-modal teaching Experience with structured math programs (e.g., Making Math Real, Touch Math, Math-U-See) Experience teaching geometry, algebra II, and calculus Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with students, particularly those who have experienced academic challenges Experience and training using multi-modal teaching Experience in varied educational settings is welcomed Reliable transportation for in-person sessions in Oakland/Berkeley Consistent internet access and comfort with online platforms Ability to pass a background check Our students often benefit from personalized, structured support that helps them bridge foundational skills with self-esteem and independent thinking. Core Responsibilities Availability:
Be available for a minimum of 6 and up to 20 academic coaching sessions per week (each 50 minutes) Primary needed times are between 2:30-7:30pm weekdaysSessions:
Prepare a personalized plan and materials for each session. To do this you can draw upon many of MES's internal resources. Arrive on time, organized, and ready to coach with a warm and professional demeanor. Keep detailed session notes and track student progress. Send timely follow-up communications to parents and school teams.MES Staff:
Participate in bi-weekly or monthly check-ins with MES leadership. Attend ongoing training in your subject areas, executive functioning, and learning differences. Workflow & Expectations (All steps include paid time) Onboarding New Students Receive a new student proposal/profile via email and confirm availability Meet with Miranda (Director) to discuss the student's learning profile and goals Coordinate and hold a family meeting to understand needs and build rapport Prepare for the first session with customized strategies and materialsSession:
For each session, coaches are allotted: 15 minutes of paid prep time 10 minutes of paid follow-up time (notes, communication, planning) Be a problem-solver: Families often come to us out of time and ideas. Your role is to offer calm, thoughtful solutions and act as the support system they need most.Additional expectations include:
Attending staff meetings (coordinated with your availability, paid). Understanding and following MES policies in the staff handbook. Collaborating with Miranda on executive functioning plans for your students. Communicating with your student families clearly, skillfully, and kindly. Keeping your MES email address notifications on and responding during business hours. You may receive text messages from admin or Miranda in the case of a last-minute communication. Compensation & Employment Details Hourly pay ranges from $70-$120/hour, depending on experience and training This is a W-2 hourly employee position (not an independent contractor role) Includes paid prep time (15 min) and paid follow-up time (10 min) per session Travel time is not compensated, but we do our best to make it efficient, with a maximum of 20 minutes between clients Employees are eligible for accrued paid sick leave No additional benefits (e.g., health insurance or retirement) are offered at this time To Apply Please submit your resume, a cover letter, and please respond to all line items in the qualifications section.Pay:
