Job Type:
Part-time, seasonal with potential for continued work Position Overview Summit Aquatics is hiring dependable, energetic, and professional private swim instructors to provide personalized lessons at clients' homes, HOA pools, and community pools throughout San Diego County. You will work one-on-one or with small groups, helping swimmers improve their water safety, confidence, technique, and overall swimming ability. This flexible position is ideal for experienced swim instructors, lifeguards, competitive swimmers, coaches, teachers, and college students who enjoy working with children and families. Responsibilities Provide safe, engaging private swim lessons for children and adults Customize instruction to each swimmer's age, ability, goals, and learning style Teach water safety, beginner swimming skills, stroke development, and proper technique Monitor each student's progress and adjust lessons as needed Maintain constant supervision and enforce appropriate pool-safety rules Create a patient, encouraging, and professional learning environment Communicate clearly with parents about progress and recommended next steps Arrive on time, prepared, and dressed according to Summit Aquatics standards Maintain consistent availability for assigned families Follow all company safety and customer-service procedures Qualifications Previous swim-instruction, lifeguarding, coaching, teaching, or competitive-swimming experience Strong swimming ability and knowledge of water safety Experience working with children Patient, encouraging, and confident teaching style Excellent communication and customer-service skills Dependable transportation and willingness to travel to clients' pools Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain certification before teaching Lifeguard, WSI, swim-instructor, or equivalent certification preferred Must successfully complete a background check Weekday-afternoon, evening, or weekend availability preferred Why Join Summit Aquatics? Schedule Most lessons take place on weekday afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Instructors select their availability and preferred service areas. Consistent weekly availability is strongly preferred.
