Job Description

Position Summary We are seeking a dependable, organized, and compassionate Cook/Chef to prepare nutritious, appealing, and well-balanced meals for a small substance abuse residential treatment facility serving 1-6 clients. Please note that this is a drug and alcohol-free facility that is compliant with the DHCS and Joint Commission. The Cook will be responsible for preparing and serving lunch at 12:30 PM and dinner at 5:30 PM, while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys cooking and takes pride in creating a comfortable, home-like environment for individuals receiving residential treatment services. Schedule Saturday and Sunday 10:00 AM-6:30 PM Lunch served at 12:30 PM Dinner served at 5:30 PM Key Responsibilities Prepare and serve lunch and dinner daily for approximately 1-6 clients. Plan meals that are nutritious, balanced, appealing, and appropriate for a residential treatment setting. Prepare meals in accordance with established menus, dietary requirements, allergies, and client preferences. Maintain appropriate food portions while minimizing food waste. Shop for groceries and maintain adequate kitchen and food supplies, as assigned. Properly store, label, date, and rotate food and ingredients. Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen, dining area, appliances, utensils, and food-preparation surfaces. Ensure the kitchen is properly stocked with snacks and drinks for in between meal times Follow food-safety, sanitation, and safe food-handling practices. Monitor food inventory and communicate needed supplies to management. Accommodate reasonable dietary restrictions and modifications. Prepare meals in a timely manner so that lunch and dinner are ready at the scheduled serving times. Maintain professional boundaries and respectful interactions with residential clients. Keep temperature logs for all refrigerators and freezers Support a welcoming, calm, and home-like dining environment. Follow all facility policies and procedures related to safety, confidentiality, and client care. Perform other kitchen and meal-related duties as assigned. Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will be: Reliable and punctual. Comfortable preparing meals for a small group. Organized and able to manage multiple food-preparation tasks. Knowledgeable about basic food safety and sanitation. Comfortable working independently. Respectful, patient, and compassionate toward individuals receiving behavioral health or substance use treatment. Able to maintain appropriate professional boundaries in a residential treatment environment. Flexible and willing to accommodate reasonable dietary needs and preferences. Able to maintain client confidentiality that is consistent with HIPAA laws
Qualifications Required:
Previous cooking or food-preparation experience. Ability to safely prepare meals in a residential or small-group setting. Ability to follow food-safety and sanitation procedures. Ability to pass any employment screening required by the facility. Food Handler Card or equivalent food-safety certification. Maintain client confidentiality compliant with HIPAA laws
Preferred:
Experience working in residential treatment, behavioral health, substance use treatment, assisted living, group home, or similar setting. Experience planning nutritious meals for small groups. Experience in drug and alcohol-free environments and/or sober communities Able to fill in for full time chef M-F when needed Physical Requirements Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Ability to safely lift and carry groceries and kitchen supplies. Ability to bend, reach, and perform routine kitchen tasks. Ability to safely operate standard kitchen equipment. Why Join Us? Pay:
$21.00 - $23.00 per hour Expected hours: 16.0 per week
