Recess Sports Coach - San Francisco ANTS Sports - 4.7 San Francisco, CA Job Details Part-time From $25 an hour 1 hour ago Benefits Flexible schedule Qualifications Phone communication Child attendance tracking Parent communication Full Job Description We seek passionate & committed part-time Recess Sports Coaches for TK-5th grade students in San Francisco for the 2026-27 School Year! Make a positive difference in America's youth by coaching sports and play during the school day. No previous coaching experience is required - we train all coaches. Do you love working with youth, teaching sports and wellness, and helping others improve? As a Recess Sports Coach with ANTS (America's Next Talented Stars), you'll lead safe, inclusive, high-energy recess play at one of our San Francisco school communities as part of a elementary school recess program. You'll work alongside a small team of ANTS coaches under an on-site Site Lead, running games, teaching skills, and helping every kid find something to play. Recess programming runs during the school day, and you must be available on your assigned program days for the full school year. Sports and games include flag football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, pickleball, playground games, and more! We provide all necessary training, equipment, and support. Being an ANTS Coach is a great way to learn to coach sports while serving our community. Great coaches will be invited to add after-school, weekend, and summer programs! Coach Responsibilities Lead fun, safe, and inclusive recess play for kids ages 4-10 Teach the FUNdamentals of sports through quick-start games that get every kid moving. Training provided! Ensure a safe and reliable program by arriving on time on each of your program days for the entire school year Attend an orientation training in person Join the pre-session coach huddle and follow the day's recess plan Interact positively with students, teachers, yard staff, and school administrators Set up before and clean up after each recess block Location This position will coach at our ANTS partner elementary school in San Francisco. The ANTS Team will work with each coach to assign program days that work best for you. Schedule Recess programming takes place Monday through Friday, generally between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., on the same days each week for the 2026-27 school year. You must be available midday on your assigned program days and committed to a consistent, high-quality experience for students and school partners. This is a weekday daytime role and does not require afternoon or Saturday availability. Want more hours? Recess coaches can also pick up after-school youth sports coaching (typically 3-6 p.m., one or more days per week) . Ask us about combining roles.
Requirements Transportation :
Coaches must have reliable transportation to their coaching sites. You may be required to bring equipment to & from class, so a vehicle is very helpful. Responsible & professional: Arrive on time to each practice and keep accurate attendance. Interact with parents and school staff positively.
Communication :
Have strong communication skills. You will communicate with ANTS, parents, and site staff through email and phone. Enthusiastic & fun: ANTS coaches are positive role models for our students. We expect that you share our deep beliefs in the larger themes we are promoting: sportsmanship, wellness, and positivity.
Patience :
Be a patient person who understands young children & their need to develop at their own pace.
Experience :
Experience as a player or coach (at least two years) is highly valuable, though optional.
Background check:
A successful candidate must pass a Federal and state Background Check and/or FBI Fingerprinting (Livescan) and test negative for TB test (within the last 4 years).
