Big Kicks Soccer is hiring a dependable, energetic coach to step into an established weekday schedule and grow into an important role within our company. For more than 15 years, Big Kicks Soccer has brought fun, confidence-building soccer programs directly to Bay Area schools for children ages 2-10. We are looking for someone who wants more than a few coaching hours. This position is intended for someone who can take ownership of a substantial Monday-Friday schedule, build relationships with our partner schools, and become someone we can rely on as Big Kicks continues to grow. Schedule Expectations — Please Read Before Applying This is a weekday daytime position , not just an after-school coaching job.

Candidates should generally be available:

Monday-Friday Approximately 9:00 AM-5:00/6:00 PM With flexibility based on the school schedule You will not be coaching continuously for 8-9 hours . Classes are spread throughout the day and there are often significant breaks between schools. However, we need someone who can keep the overall workday available for Big Kicks and travel between scheduled locations as needed. If you have recurring school, work, or other commitments during the weekday that significantly limit your availability, this may not be the right position. This Is Not Traditional Club Soccer Coaching Our coaches work primarily with young children. Some kids will run up excited to play soccer. Others may be shy, distracted, silly, highly energetic, or not particularly interested in soccer when class begins. A great Big Kicks coach doesn't become frustrated by that. They find a way to connect. They change the activity when something isn't working. They use imagination, encouragement, humor, and energy to bring children into the experience. If your favorite part of coaching is only working with highly motivated soccer players, this probably isn't the right position. If you love seeing a young child go from hesitant to confident because of something you did, we want to talk to you. What You'll Do You will travel between partner schools throughout the Bay Area and lead fun, developmentally appropriate soccer classes.

A typical day may include:

Traveling between approximately 2-5 schools Setting up equipment and preparing the coaching space Gathering children from classrooms Leading 30-45 minute soccer sessions Keeping children safe, engaged, active, and encouraged Adjusting activities based on age, ability, space, or group energy Communicating professionally with teachers and school staff Safely returning children to their classrooms Breaking down equipment and traveling to the next school No two schools are exactly alike. You may coach on grass at one school, blacktop at another, and in a smaller indoor or outdoor space later that day. Being able to adjust quickly and maintain your energy is a major part of succeeding in this role.

Soccer Experience Soccer playing or coaching experience is helpful, but it is not our most important qualification . We would rather hire someone who is outstanding with young children and willing to learn than an accomplished soccer player who doesn't enjoy this age group. Pay $20.00-$30.00 per hour Paid training is provided. Compensation and responsibilities can grow as you demonstrate reliability, coaching ability, and the ability to take ownership of your schedule and school relationships.
