Job Description

The Sonoma Sea Dragons is a year round team under the umbrella of programming offered by the nonprofit organization, Sonoma Splash. The Sea Dragons practice at the Sonoma Valley High School Aquatic Center and the age group swimmers compete throughout Sonoma and Napa counties. The ideal Beginning Age Group Coach candidate will be dedicated to fostering a positive and competitive environment, developing our new swimmers' skills, and promoting a love and excitement for the sport among all team members. Desired Candidates Qualifications Skills Strong knowledge of competitive swimming techniques Ability to break down stroke technique to effectively demonstrate and teach Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills Ability to inspire and motivate swimmers of all ages and skill levels Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team High level of professionalism and dedication to the sport of swimming Knowledge Strong understanding of swimming techniques, stroke mechanics, and competitive swimming rules. Education, Licensure/Certifications Will need to hold a USA Swimming Coach Certification Personal Qualities Enthusiastic, motivating, and a team player who is dedicated to athlete development and growth. Has a willingness to be flexible, multitask when necessary, receives feedback graciously, and demonstrates initiative and a growth mindset. Job Responsibilities Under the direction of the head coach develop and implement a comprehensive training program for beginning age group swimmers and skill levels, ensuring the program aligns with the club's goals and values Conduct regular swim practices, providing instruction on technique, conditioning, and racing strategies Foster a supportive and motivating environment for swimmers to achieve personal and team goals Coach at swim meets; typically one weekend a month Evaluate swimmers' progress, provide feedback, and individualized coaching to enhance performance Ensure the safety of all participants
Work Schedule & Hours Practices:
Up to 4 Afternoons a week (4 hours a week)
Meets:
1 Weekend per month (typically 8am-2pm) This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee in this position. The incumbent is expected to perform other duties necessary for the effective operation of the club. Physical Requirements and Work Environment Ability to swim, demonstrate techniques, and work in/around the water for extended periods of time, including responding to emergencies. Ability to stand, walk, and move along the pool deck for long durations in varying weather conditions. Exposure to water, pool chemicals, and moderate noise. Frequent interaction with swimmers of all ages.
