Job Description

Durango School District is accepting applications for a Head Girls' Basketball Coach at Escalante Middle School. This coaching position involves instructing middle school students (grades 7 and 8) in the fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training of basketball. We are a member of the San Juan Basin Middle School League. The season begins mid December and runs through mid February. Preferred Qualifications

Ability to organize and positively lead athletes and basketball coaching staff

Extensive knowledge of effective coaching practices/techniques of basketball

Ability to build rapport with middle school students

Ability to build individual and team character and confidence

Ability to relate to students of varying athletic abilities

Ability to conduct oneself in an ethical and exemplary manner at all times

Ability to work positively and communicate effectively with coaches, staff, parents and administration
