REPORTS TO:
The Director of Athletics, who provides a final evaluation to the superintendent, and the building administrator.
Primary Functions:
To provide each enrolled student of middle school age an opportunity to participate in an extracurricular athletic activity that will foster physical skills, a sense of worth and competence, a knowledge and understanding of sports, and the principles of fair play.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist in the organization and administration of the overall program of extracurricular athletics. 2. Foster good school community relations. 3. Attend and supervise all home athletic contests. If attendance is not possible on rare occasions, the High School PM Athletic Coordinator will communicate this with the High School AM Athletic Coordinator and Director of Athletics, and they will need to assist the High School AM Athletic Coordinator in finding a replacement. 4. Assist with visiting teams arrival and departure. 5. Assist with athletic officials arrival and departure. 6. Assist with crowd control and other necessary obligations during the entirety of the athletic contest. 7. Assisting the High School AM Athletic Coordinator with certain tasks throughout the season. 8. Confirming game workers, security, and athletic officials totals in scheduling software. 9. Assisting in assigning and confirming athletic contest game workers. 10. Assisting in maintaining master game workers schedules. 11. Develop appropriate rules and regulations governing student conduct during after school events. 12. Assist in the development of budgets by providing equipment and supply requests when necessary. 13. Arrange details of visiting teams' needs. 14. Create, update, and share site information to visiting teams. 15. Ability to read, interpret directions, write reports, and communicate effectively with students, parents and other staff. 16. Organize and/or assist and attend the following events: End of Season Banquets, Back to School Sports Nights, Pre-season Coaches Meetings, College Signing Days, and the like. 17. Ability to calculate figures and perform any math functions associated with the position. 18. Ability to apply common sense and deal with problems in a practical and reasonable manner. 19. Ability to apply basic computer knowledge to the activity at hand. 20. Ability to perform duties with all district and Board of Education guidelines and policies in mind. 21. Knowledge of and/or experience in the activity. 22. Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position that may vary widely depending on the activity.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
1. Valid Connecticut coaching certification or temporary emergency coaching permit. 2. Updated CPR/First Aid training approved by Connecticut State Department of Education. 3. Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program. 4. Has substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of the sports offered at the middle school level.
SALARY:
Appropriate placement on the negotiated teachers A-2 schedule. BPS Contracts
