Job Summary:
The Varsity Head Girls' Volleyball Coach is responsible for the overall leadership and direction of the volleyball program at Archbishop Carroll High School. This role includes the supervision and development of assistant coaches and student-athletes, recruitment of prospective student-athletes, and fostering a positive and competitive team environment. Responsibilities also include communication with the Athletic Department, students, parents, and the school community; organizing practices, games, transportation, and events; participating in school functions such as open houses and camps; and managing the inventory and upkeep of all team uniforms and equipment.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide leadership and direction for the Volleyball program in alignment with the school's mission and athletic philosophy. Support and implement the vision of Archbishop Carroll Athletics as articulated by the President and Athletic Director. Understand, disseminate, and enforce all rules and regulations of the WCAC, DCSAA, and the Archbishop Carroll Athletic Handbook. Ensure compliance with all school, league, and conference policies among coaching staff and student-athletes. Attend all required meetings for Archbishop Carroll Athletics, the WCAC, DCSAA, and Volleyball-specific organizations. Monitor and support the academic progress of student-athletes, assisting with academic interventions as needed. Collaborate with the school's athletic trainer to ensure all student-athletes meet medical certification and parental consent requirements before participation. Report all athletic injuries and incidents in a timely and appropriate manner. Oversee the scheduling of practices, matches, scrimmages, and related events in coordination with the Athletic Director. Manage the hiring and payment of match officials and related logistics. Serve as a visible and engaged member of the school community, representing the volleyball program at various events.
Supervision:
Organize and supervise all practices, matches, scrimmages, and team events as directed by the Athletic Department.
Scheduling:
Assist the Athletic Director with developing the team's match schedule. Coordinate with referees and manage fee payments for scheduled matches.
Qualifications:
Minimum of two (2) years of coaching experience at the high school level or higher. Demonstrated success in coaching Volleyball. At least 21 years of age. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to foster positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, and school staff. Must successfully pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting process. Certification in CPR and completion of Virtus Online training are required (more information available at Virtus Online).
