The Varsity Girls Lacrosse Head Coach faithfully supports Bradenton Christian School's mission statement to prepare the hearts and minds of God's covenantal children in partnership with the home and church for service in God's world. It is the Coach's responsibility to carry out the policies of the School Board as they relate to the function of the school, to the classroom, and to their association with students and parents.
Summary:
The Varsity Girls Lacrosse Head Coach reports to the Athletic Director and oversees all team coaches and athletes in the program and leads the overall program development from the middle school level to the high school level. The Varsity Girls Lacrosse Head Coach interacts directly with other coaches, parents, and students as a representative of Bradenton Christian School. This position may require the selected candidate to be qualified to serve as a classroom teacher depending upon the needs of the school.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Spiritual Leadership Leads by example in modeling a Christ-centered lifestyle and the integration of biblical principles into all aspects of athletics and team building. Encourages students and coaches to engage in spiritual formation activities intended to foster student growth in athletic skill and Christian sportsmanship. Develops healthy relationships with administration, coaches, faculty/staff, student athletes, and parents. Develops a plan of discipleship at all levels of the program, ensuring that Christ is in the center of the team. Incorporates devotionals when given the opportunity, open and close practices with prayer. Administrative Support Operates within the annual budget report for the year. Actively seeks opportunities to raise financial support for items and equipment; completes inventory of equipment and uniforms at the start & conclusion of each season. Assists the Athletic Director (A.D.) in purchasing needs and equipment for the year. Participates in mandatory meetings in the athletic department throughout the year. Abides by and cooperates with the Florida High School Activities Association (FHSAA) standards and requirements. Attends yearly coaching clinics and professional development opportunities when required. Works with the A.D. and trainer to coordinate mandatory paperwork which athletes must have completed prior to the first official practice date. Assists the A.D. with scheduling of matches and practices, sports banquet and signing days. Reports scores and stats to the media, MaxPreps, and social media platforms after each match; keeps accurate stats to ensure student/athlete records for future years. Markets players to the media and provides opportunities for college placement. Plans, organizations, and conducts a summer camp with the assistance of facilities manager. Creates opportunities with school strength coach for off-season training and conditioning. Coordinates coaching and player assignments for away matches, as well as ensuring supervision when traveling off campus for matches/practices. Coaching Staff Development and Accountability Maintains a spiritual and professional environment at all levels of the program. Hires assistant and sub-varsity coaches with the approval of the Athletic Director. Ensures all assistant coaches have completed appropriate background checks and fingerprinting prior to involvement in the program. Supervises the coaching staff at all levels in the program to ensure athletes are growing spiritually, athletically, and socially. Encourages assistant and sub-varsity coaches to attend yearly professional development opportunities. Conducts yearly evaluations for all coaches in the program. Required Skills/Abilities:
A clearly articulated testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior along with weekly in-person attendance in a Christian church. A clear understanding of and support for covenantal Christian education along with a desire to lead students in the development of a Christian worldview. Demonstrates spiritual maturity and a growing commitment to the Christian faith. Possesses the ability to demonstrate a philosophy of Christian education and personal faith aligned with the mission and Statement of Belief of Bradenton Christian School. High school, college, or professional playing or coaching experience required. Exhibits a strong commitment to the mission and athletic philosophy of BCS. Demonstrates effective Christ-like leadership in all areas of life. Working knowledge of FHSAA policy standards. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills along with strong management and organizational skills. High attention to detail required. Must be a team player with a desire to help and serve others. Working knowledge of MS Office Suite. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. at a time.
