Job Description

Assist Head Coach in overall coaching duties for the intercollegiate athletic program operating under NCAA bylaws and regulations. Assist Head Coach in all aspects of recruitment and training for athletic competition. Perform all duties relating to the sport as assigned by the Head Coach. In addition to other duties and responsibilities required in the Staff Handbook and Coaches Manual, the employee agrees to: Engage in successful community relations within the college community; establish a positive opinion of Flagler Athletics in particular among Flagler students, faculty and other employees. Establish a positive opinion of the Flagler program within the city of St. Augustine, the state of Florida, and on the national level. Teach, train, coach and instruct student-athletes in their respected sport. Communicate (where appropriate) with students, parents and physicians to determine student-athletes eligibility or ineligibility to participate. Assist Head Coach and Trainers in establishing specific procedures for handling injuries and emergencies. Assist Head Coach in creating, implementing and administering methods of instruction, measurements and testing of the learning potential and the achievement of student-athletes. Assist Head Coach in employing strategies that enable student-athletes to graduate from the College in four years and to pursue rewarding careers. Assist Head Coach in successfully recruiting capable student-athletes that are compatible with the institution. Assist Head Coach in scheduling all competition against recognized and respected colleges and universities. Assist Head Coach in scheduling and administering efficient, effective, well-organized practice sessions. Maintain a positive, enthusiastic approach toward duties and in regard to the college in general. Encourage retention of student-athletes. Encourage a positive atmosphere within the Flagler Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Assist Coach in remedying any unsatisfactory circumstances that occur relating your sport. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics, Head Coach or other college executives.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
