JOB DESCRIPTION
Supervise and train student-athletes in the fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training necessary to meet the program goals while ensuring safe football athletic techniques are followed. Teach good sportsmanship and self-control. Implement GHSA and Coweta County School System policies and regulations. Be knowledgeable of NCAA Clearinghouse guidelines and eligibility requirements. Supervise, advise, and support assistant coaches. Promote school spirit within and outside the school community. Prepare the team for athletic competitions. Represent the school at invitational, regional, and state football competitions. Host football camps. Foster good relations with the community, faculty, parents, athletic boosters, and stakeholders. Provide leadership to effectively plan, coordinate, and implement programs of instruction that ensure students have opportunities to reach their highest social, emotional, and academic potential. Meet and instruct assigned classes in the location and at the time designated. Select and present materials required in the teaching assignment within the framework of the content limitations of state and system curriculum guides. Plan a study program that meets the student's individual needs, interests, and abilities. Develop and implement classroom technology that may relate to audio, video, graphics, research technologies, and other tools to facilitate learning. Prepare for classes assigned and show evidence of preparation upon request of the principal or designee. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Provide adequate background information and materials when a substitute teacher assumes responsibilities. Maintain satisfactory attendance defined by the system or local school handbook. Comply with conditions stated in the contract of employment. Comply with the federal, state, and local board of education requirements for the development of educationally appropriate instruction. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct and work cooperatively with all staff members in attaining school goals and objectives. Develop reasonable rules for classroom behavior and procedures and maintain order in the classroom fairly and justly. Attend staff, department, team, or grade-level meetings and serve on staff committees as required. Participate as required in the appropriate state annual evaluation process. Perform such additional responsibilities as may be assigned by the building administrators. Work in cooperation with the athletic director and coaches of other sports and activities. Work with middle school feeder programs
REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION OR TRAINING
Minimum bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and valid Georgia teacher certification in the appropriate field.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Competency in organizing and implementing a successful football program. Ability to develop a competitive program committed to creating student-athletes who demonstrate a commitment to academics, strong fundamental skills, and sportsmanship. Ability to organize, coordinate, plan, and direct the implementation of a comprehensive classroom instructional program. Proficiency required in oral and written communication, interpersonal relations, and competency in counseling and evaluating student needs.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
