Job Description

Assistant Baseball Coach Shorter University, a NCAA Division II institution that competes in the Conference Carolinas, is currently accepting applicants for the position of Assistant Baseball Coach. This position will be responsible for helping with Student-Athlete development, evaluating and recruiting prospective student-athletes, and assigned administrative duties. This position will report to the Head Baseball Coach. All activities shall be conducted within the policies and resource framework of Shorter University, the Athletics Department, Conference Carolinas, and the NCAA. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Coaching and Player Development Assist in planning and conducting team practices and workouts. Provide instruction and skill development for student-athletes in assigned position groups. Analyze player performance and develop improvement plans. Assist with scouting reports, opponent analysis, and game strategy. Support strength and conditioning initiatives in collaboration with strength and conditioning director. Recruiting Identify, evaluate, and recruit prospective student-athletes who meet institutional, athletic, and academic standards. Establish and maintain relationships with high school, junior college, travel ball coaches. Coordinate recruiting visits and communications with prospects and families. Travel as necessary for recruiting and evaluation purposes. Program Operations Assist with scheduling, travel coordination, equipment management, and team logistics. Support fundraising activities, camps, clinics, and community engagement efforts. Monitor student-athlete academic progress and promote academic success. Maintain knowledge of and adherence to NCAA, Conference Carolinas, and University rules and regulations. Administrative Responsibilities Manage assigned operational areas as directed by the Head Coach. Assist with social media, alumni relations, and program promotion. Complete required reports and documentation in a timely manner. Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Baseball Coach and Athletics Administration. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree. Previous coaching and/or playing experience at the collegiate level. Demonstrated knowledge of baseball fundamentals, player development, and recruiting. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel extensively. Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record. Must be a committed Christian and have an active church membership.
