This position is an excellent opportunity for an energetic and student-centered coach committed to athletic excellence, academic success, and the holistic development of student-athletes. As a member of the Mustangs athletic department, the successful candidate will help advance a competitive NAIA program while fostering sportsmanship, character development, and a positive student-athlete experience. Key Responsibilities Assist with the leadership, organization, and administration of the Track & Field program. Coach and mentor student-athletes in skill development, training, competition preparation, and personal growth. Serve as the primary coach for the junior varsity program while supporting varsity student-athletes and coaching initiatives. Recruit and retain high-achieving student-athletes who demonstrate academic and athletic potential. Support team persistence, retention, and academic success goals, including maintaining strong team GPA performance. Help develop practice plans, training programs, and competitive schedules. Promote student-athlete health, safety, and well-being in collaboration with athletic training staff. Assist with budgeting, fundraising, program promotion, and community engagement activities. Represent Mount Mercy University and the athletic department in a professional manner at university, alumni, civic, and community events. Ensure compliance with all university, conference, and NAIA rules and regulations. Qualifications Bachelor's degree Collegiate coaching and/or athletic experience. Proven recruiting ability. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. Commitment to academic excellence, character development, and student-athlete success. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-focused environment. Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
