POSITION SUMMARY

Masters Head Coach is responsible for planning, managing and directing the Masters Swim Team and ensuring participant safety at all times.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

In conjunction with the supervisor, prepare season training plans / themes / focus, and develop team events. Plan, write, schedule, and direct all team practices and meets. Create an environment that welcomes all types of swimmers from varying levels and backgrounds Maintain proper records, team lists, and provide reports as needed. Establish professional and positive relationships with team members, including gaining an understanding of team members' specific goals and needs. Ensure safety of participants by enforcing policies and disciplinary rules. Hire, supervise, train and direct assistant coaches. Report specific problems or needs to the supervisor or designated staff person. Communicate with the team and staff by providing information regarding activities, meets, goals and daily training plans, and address any concerns they have in a timely fashion. Know and demonstrate emergency procedures and monitor and maintain equipment. Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisor or designated staff person Demonstrate and support the objectives of the Association as embodied in the mission statement and values

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE RE QUIREMEN TS

Ability to read, write, and perform simple mathematical functions Completion of high school or equivalent Two years of competitive coaching experience; preferably as a Masters Swim Coach Working knowledge of competitive teams; preferably with a Masters Swim Team Perform basic computer skills such as using the computerized time clock and online training requirements. American Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches (Lifeguard certification will be accepted with proof of successful completion of the online Safety Training for Swim Coaches certification) YMCA Principles of Competitive Swimming and Diving within the first 30 day of hire. United States Masters Swimming Coach Certification, or within the first 30 day of hire. Registered USA Swimming Coach preferred Current Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED Certification OR equivalent

•prior to starting Child Abuse Prevention Training

•prior to starting and maintained afterwards Additional training to be completed within the first 30 days and maintained afterwards.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. This position usually works in an indoor aquatics environment, but the mission of the organization may sometimes take them to non-standard workplaces.
