The Junior High Girls Basketball Coach is responsible for providing leadership, instruction, supervision, and organization for the junior high basketball program. The coach will teach age-appropriate basketball fundamentals, skills, strategies, teamwork, and sportsmanship while promoting a positive, safe, and supportive environment for student-athletes. The coach will serve as a positive role model and mentor, encourage student participation and personal growth while working cooperatively with school staff, parents, and other coaches to support the overall athletic program. The coach is responsible for scheduling and conducting organized practices and competitions. The coach must ensure compliance with school, district, and athletic association policies.
Qualifications:
Employment as a teacher or coach with a valid Iowa Coaching certificate or coaching endorsement Demonstrated interest in and aptitude for performing the tasks listed Requirements Include but

Instruct participants in the fundamental skill, strategy, and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. Give student instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self- discipline, self-confidence, and self-esteem Communicate with athletes, parents, athletic administration and other school staff Promote all activities in the school program attempting to foster school spirit Show an interest in athletes in off-season activities and classroom efforts Teach good sportsmanship, teamwork, responsibility, and respect. Ensure proper care and use of equipment File completed inventory with the Activity Director within two weeks after the completion of the season Follow proper transportation procedures Supervise student-athletes during practices, matches, and team travel Assume responsibility for neatness of facilities and cooperation with custodians Display enthusiasm and exhibit interest in the school's activity program Establish the fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques to be taught Be well versed and knowledgeable in matters pertaining to the sport Be prompt and organized concerning practice/contests Be innovative in using new coaching techniques and ideas in addition to sound, already proven methods of coaching Provide leadership and an attitude that produce positive attitudes and results Ensure student safety and appropriate conduct during all activities per district policies Other responsibilities in this role assigned by Activities Director Reports to the
Length of assignment and compensation determined by the district's extracurricular salary schedule. Must meet all district requirements for extracurricular activity coaching.
