Job Description
Summary Pottawattamie County Conservation is seeking passionate and skilled Ski and Snowboard instructors to join our team for the upcoming winter season. This position will run from December through March or the duration of the ski season. Individuals in this role will teach new skiers/snowboarders and intermediate skiers/snowboarders the various fundamentals of skiing/snowboarding. Instructors will work with the Snowsports School Coordinator to ensure the Ski School performs to meet the expectations of guests, while keeping guest safety a priority. Don't miss out on the adventures at Crescent Hill at Hitchcock this winter! Essential Functions Instructs groups and/or individuals in a lesson format. Teaches proper technique appropriate to the ability level of those being instructed. Promotes safety and gives students the knowledge to remain safe when they leave the lesson to ski/snowboard on their own. Participates in clinics and free-skiing/snowboarding to constantly improve personal skiing skills. Attends PSIA or AASI clinics and takes appropriate exams, on an ongoing basis. Greet guests and direct guests to proper lesson location. Must be helpful, friendly, courteous and professional in accordance with Mt Crescent's commitment to providing superior customer service. Treats each lesson recipient as an important individual when providing instruction. Other duties as assigned. Essential Knowledge, Experience, and Ability Ability to ski or snowboard safely and confidently in all conditions and in varying types of terrain. Ability to work during peak times and in bad weather. Essential Education, Certification, and/or Licenses Must be eighteen (18) years old at the time of hire. Must complete ski/snowboard instructor training upon hire. Prior ski/snowboard instructor experience is preferred. PSIA or AASI certification is preferred. Must be reliable, punctual and have own transportation. Flexibility to work during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
