Job Description
Summary Meridian High School is seeking a passionate and dedicated individual to lead our softball program as the Head Softball Coach for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of the game, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes. This seasonal position requires a leader who can inspire and motivate players while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal development. Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive training program that enhances players' skills and team performance.
- Conduct daily practices, focusing on individual and team skill development, strategy, and game preparation.
- Organize and manage all aspects of the softball program, including scheduling games, practices, and transportation.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes respect, discipline, and sportsmanship among players.
- Communicate effectively with players, parents, and school administration regarding team expectations, schedules, and player progress.
- Monitor the academic performance of student-athletes to ensure compliance with school and athletic eligibility requirements.
- Recruit and evaluate potential players, providing guidance and support throughout the recruitment process.
- Collaborate with assistant coaches and support staff to create a cohesive coaching team.
- Attend and contribute to coaching clinics, workshops, and professional development opportunities.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all athletes during practices and competitions, adhering to all safety guidelines and protocols. Requirements
- Previous coaching experience at the high school level or higher, preferably in softball.
- Strong knowledge of softball techniques, strategies, and rules.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to reach their full potential.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Must pass a background check and adhere to all school and district policies.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends during the season.
- A passion for mentoring young athletes and fostering a love for the game.
