Job Description

Payette School District is accepting applications for the following coaching position for the 2026-2027 school year: Head Girls Basketball Coach - McCain Middle School Position Purpose The McCain Middle School Girls Basketball Coach is responsible for leading the district's middle school basketball program by providing age-appropriate instruction in volleyball fundamentals while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, responsibility, and personal growth. The coach creates a positive, safe, and inclusive environment that encourages participation, develops individual and team skills, and prepares student-athletes for successful participation in the district's high school basketball program. Goals Foster the physical, social, and emotional development of middle school student-athletes. Teach volleyball fundamentals appropriate for middle school students and varying skill levels. Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, responsibility, and respect for others. Develop a positive team culture that encourages participation, effort, and personal growth. Prepare student-athletes for successful participation in the district's high school basketball program. Ensure a safe and supportive learning environment for all participants. Major Duties and Responsibilities Working with Student-Athletes Plan, organize, and supervise all practices, contests, team meetings, and other assigned team activities. Develop practice plans that emphasize skill development, teamwork, conditioning, sportsmanship, and safe play. Teach the fundamental skills, rules, and strategies of basketball appropriate for middle school student-athletes. Provide instruction that supports athletes of varying abilities and experience levels. Establish and communicate team expectations regarding conduct, attendance, effort, and academic responsibility. Encourage maximum student participation while providing opportunities for skill development and appropriate competitive experiences. Promote good sportsmanship and respect for teammates, opponents, officials, and spectators. Ensure student safety and enforce appropriate safety procedures during all practices and competitions. Verify that student-athletes meet eligibility requirements, including academic eligibility and required physical examinations. Communicate regularly with parents, student-athletes, school administration, and the Athletic Director regarding schedules, expectations, and team activities. Coordinate transportation, equipment needs, uniforms, and facility use with the Athletic Director. Ensure the proper care, inventory, and storage of district athletic equipment and uniforms. Assist with fundraising activities as approved by the District and follow all District purchasing and financial procedures. Maintain accurate records, including rosters, eligibility documentation, injury reports, and equipment inventories. Comply with all federal and state laws, administrative rules, Board policies, district procedures, and athletic association regulations, including concussion protocols and student safety requirements. Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating professionalism, integrity, ethical conduct, and effective communication. Collaborate with high school basketball coaches to promote consistency in skill development, terminology, and program expectations.
