Job Description
Summary Webster County High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our athletic department as a full-time assistant basketball coach. This position involves supporting the head coach in all aspects of the basketball program, fostering a positive and competitive environment for student-athletes, and promoting the values of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of basketball fundamentals, coaching techniques, and the ability to mentor young athletes both on and off the court. Responsibilities Assist the head coach in planning and implementing daily practices, drills, and game strategies. Help develop and maintain a positive team culture that encourages student-athlete growth and development. Conduct skill development sessions for athletes to enhance their individual and team performance. Collaborate with the head coach in scouting and analyzing opponents to prepare strategic game plans. Support the recruitment and retention of student-athletes within the basketball program. Monitor and evaluate student-athlete performance and provide constructive feedback. Maintain communication with student-athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team activities and expectations. Ensure compliance with all school, district, and state athletic regulations and policies. Assist with organizing and managing team events, including games, tournaments, and community outreach activities. Attend all practices, games, and team meetings, demonstrating commitment and leadership. Requirements Bachelor's degree in physical education, sports management, or a related field preferred. Previous coaching experience at the high school level or higher, preferably in basketball. Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and coaching techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with student-athletes, parents, and staff. Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes to achieve their personal and team goals. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities. Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all team members. Current CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain upon hiring. Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for practices and games.
