Job Description

Assistant Cheer Coach, Bath Co High School

Minimal Educational Requirement:

High School Graduate

Must be 21 years of age.

Coaches have responsibility for:

teaching sports techniques, playing rules, strategies and playing tactics;

conditioning athletes appropriately for activities requiring endurance, strength and agility; supervising and conducting practices and contests safely; supervising locker rooms and buses; teaching sportsmanship, cooperation, work ethic and responsibility to one's team;

monitoring athletes' school attendance, grades and personal conduct;

responding to player injuries with approved first aid techniques;

managing uniforms, equipment and school facilities in a responsible manner;

Provide coverage for absence of coaches.

Vacancies for coaching positions are developed at each school and forwarded to the District Athletic Programs Administrator for posting in schools. Posted vacancies are available to qualified teachers first. If no qualified teachers apply, vacancies are made available to qualified non-teacher personnel.

Candidates for coaching positions are screened, interviewed by the athletic director and/or principal. To apply for a coaching job, candidates submit a letter of application to the athletic director. The athletic director will review all candidate backgrounds, experiences and training and recommend one or more candidates to be interviewed.

Employment agreement: Position and compensation are one (1) year appointments only and are extra-services responsibilities. Tenure is not a consideration for coaching duties and are assigned each year by the principal through SBDM consultations.
