Job Description
Encompass Health Cardinal Hill Rehabilitation Hospital seeks a compassionate Registered Nurse to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this inpatient rehabilitation setting, you'll deliver evidence-based, patient-centered care, coordinate interdisciplinary treatment plans, and support patients through recovery and functional improvement. You'll collaborate closely with therapists and physicians, prioritize safety and quality outcomes, and mentor support staff. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive nursing assessments, monitor patient status, and document findings accurately in the electronic medical record Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary rehab team Administer medications, treatments, and therapies safely and in accordance with physician orders and hospital policies Educate patients and families on diagnoses, medications, rehabilitation goals, and discharge plans to support continued recovery Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to goal setting, care coordination, and discharge planning Maintain a safe environment by following infection control standards, fall prevention protocols, and patient safety guidelines Use clinical judgment to prioritize care for a varied caseload in a fast-paced rehab setting Support quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and regulatory compliance within the unit Serve as a patient advocate, demonstrating compassion, integrity, and respect in all interactions Collaborate closely with therapists, physicians, and other staff to optimize functional outcomes and patient satisfaction Required Skills Patient assessment and clinical judgment Rehabilitation nursing principles Medication administration and IV therapy Electronic medical record (EMR) documentation Wound care and skin integrity management Pain assessment and management Care planning and care coordination Patient and family education Vital signs and hemodynamic monitoring Fall prevention and safety practices Interdisciplinary team collaboration Time management and prioritization Infection control and standard precautions Discharge planning support Basic life support and emergency response
