Position Summary:
The Barnstable High School Drama Department is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Assistant Drama Coach with a focus on technical expertise to support our theatre program. The successful candidate will assist the Drama Director while providing specialized knowledge in theatre production. The ideal candidate will foster creativity, technical skill development, and artistic expression in a supportive and inclusive learning environment that celebrates student diversity and promotes equity within the drama program.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist the Drama Director with production planning, casting, and rehearsals for all drama performances. Lead technical aspects of productions, including set design, construction, and implementation. Assist the direction of students on design and executing lighting plans for all performances. Train and supervise student technical crews, fostering leadership and teamwork skills. Collaborate with the Drama Director on show selection and season planning. Support students in developing theatre skills through hands-on instruction and mentorship. Attend all rehearsals, performances, and production meetings as required. Assist with budget management for technical elements of productions. Participate in promoting drama club events within the school and community. Help supervise after-school rehearsals and weekend work sessions during production periods.
Qualifications:
Experience in theatrical production Demonstrate knowledge of set construction, lighting design, and technical theatre Strong organizational and communication skills Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and community members Experience working with high school students preferred Commitment to inclusive and equitable educational practices
