Job Description

Overview Join our vibrant team as a Children's Swim Instructor and inspire young learners to develop essential swimming skills in a fun, safe, and engaging environment! This paid position offers the opportunity to foster confidence, promote healthy activity, and instill lifelong water safety habits in children of all ages. As a key member of our aquatic education team, you will lead dynamic lessons, motivate students, and ensure a positive experience that encourages growth and enjoyment in the water. Our group programs are afterschool weekdays 3:30-5/6pm with the additional option of private lessons. The commitment is 2-5 afternoons per week. JP/Brookline Responsibilities Plan and deliver engaging swim lessons tailored to children's skill levels and developmental stages. Ensure the safety of all participants by enforcing pool rules and monitoring water activity at all times. Use effective communication skills to connect with children, parents, and guardians, providing clear feedback on progress. Implement behavior management strategies to maintain a respectful and focused learning environment. Conduct safety procedures including first aid, CPR, AED operation, and emergency response when necessary. Collaborate with team members to develop innovative teaching techniques and improve program quality. Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress reports, and safety incidents for each student. Opportunities for private lessons In addition to group lessons. Qualifications Prior experience working with children in educational or recreational settings is highly preferred. Strong swimming skills with the ability to demonstrate proper techniques confidently. Experience with youth sports as a player or coach is a plus. Knowledge of behavior management strategies and child development principles. Excellent communication skills for engaging with children, parents, and team members effectively. Previous lifeguard experience, swim team or swim instruction is advantageous but not required. Current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor is great to have but not required. Lifeguard Certification is offered for staff. Join us in making a splash by empowering children through swimming!
