A Coach works with individual athletes or with sports teams to develop skills and improve teamwork and competitive performance. Runs practice sessions and physical conditioning programs; assesses the strengths and weaknesses of players; plans strategies for games; motivates and encourage players and teaches good sportsmanship.
The Assistant Coach for the Football team assists the head coach with program management, including practice planning, recruitment, player development, and competition strategy implementation. The Assistant Coach will support all aspects of the NCAA Division III Football program at Dean College, ensuring compliance with NCAA, Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, and Dean College standards, rules, and regulations. This is a 10-month, part-time, non-exempt position with a fixed, non-negotiable rate of $15.00 per hour.
Position responsibilities include:
Assist in the implementation of the sport training and instructional program under the direction of the head coach by providing sport skill instruction, assisting in the conduct of practice sessions, performing game-related duties, and motivating players to give their best efforts. Recruit prospective student-athletes effectively as assigned by and under the direction of the head coach. Serve as a liaison with academic support personnel in support of players' academic efforts. Act as a liaison with the athletic training and strength and conditioning staff to support the conditioning and rehabilitation of players. Aid with administrative tasks, including fundraising and community service activities. Additional responsibility as assigned or required.
Job Requirements:
Bachelor's degree, required. Master's degree and/or coaching certification, preferred. Playing experience at the collegiate level and 3-5 years of experience as an assistant coach, preferred.
