North Middlesex Regional High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Cross Country Coach to support the boys and girls cross country programs. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a passion for student-athlete development, teamwork, fitness, and education-based athletics while helping create a positive and supportive team environment. The Assistant Cross Country Coach will work collaboratively with the Head Coach and Athletic Department to support all aspects of the program, including practices, meet preparation, athlete development, communication, and team culture. The coach will serve as a positive role model who promotes commitment, sportsmanship, accountability, and personal growth.Key Responsibilities:
Program Support:
Assist the Head Coach in all aspects of the boys and girls cross country programs. Support the planning and implementation of training sessions, conditioning, and race preparation. Help create a positive, inclusive, and competitive team culture.Athlete Development:
Assist in teaching proper running mechanics, pacing strategies, conditioning, and race preparation. Encourage student-athletes to develop leadership, resilience, teamwork, and accountability. Support the physical and mental development of athletes in a safe and encouraging environment.Practice & Meet Responsibilities:
Assist in organizing and supervising daily practices and competitions. Help manage meet-day logistics, athlete check-ins, warm-ups, and supervision. Monitor athlete attendance, effort, and engagement throughout the season.Team Culture & Communication:
Promote sportsmanship, inclusion, and positive representation of North Middlesex Athletics. Communicate effectively with athletes, families, coaching staff, and the Athletic Department. Support team expectations and reinforce program standards and values.Academic Support:
Encourage academic success and positive school citizenship among student-athletes. Support eligibility monitoring and reinforce the importance of balancing academics and athletics.Compliance & Safety:
Follow all MIAA, NFHS, and North Middlesex Regional School District policies and regulations. Assist in maintaining a safe environment during practices and competitions. Support concussion management, hydration, weather, and emergency protocols.Required Certifications & Compliance:
Must maintain or complete required certifications including: NFHS Fundamentals of Coaching Concussion in Sports First Aid & CPR MIAA Coaching Education ProgramCORI/SORI
Background ChecksQualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Previous participation or coaching experience in cross country, track and field, or distance running. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to positively connect with student-athletes and support a team-first environment. Must meet all NFHS and MIAA coaching requirements.Preferred Qualifications:
Previous coaching experience at the youth, middle school, or high school level. Collegiate running and/or coaching experience. Knowledge of conditioning, endurance training, and injury prevention. Commitment to education-based athletics and student leadership development.Salary:
